You probably all have heard of the recent decision by the UAE government to implement sweeping changes to the Visa rules and to allow a 100% ownership of onshore companies. In the press the positive effects on the UAE economy of these impending changes have been discussed by many commentators but many details about how the new directives will be worked out into legislation and what the practical implication are is still not clear. We are fortunate to have practitioners from the legal community to give us some insights as to the process and the likelihood of outcomes for these important and potentially wide-ranging changes. Also important changes to the labor law and in particular Emiratization and Redundancy will be discussed.

We are very pleased to welcome, Ben Brown (Legal Director) and Rajiv Nawbatt (Senior Associate) from Clyde & Co as a guest speaker.  Ben is an employment lawyer in Clyde & Co’s MENA employment team, based in Dubai. His practice covers all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law in the UK, the UAE and its free zones (including the Dubai International Financial Centre), the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Rajiv practice covers (i) corporate transactional work such as mergers and acquisitions / joint ventures; (b) corporate restructurings; and (ii) foreign direct investment into the Middle East.

The Business over Breakfast session aim to bring together small medium enterprises to discuss and learn more about relevant topics from each other and from guest speakers. Newcomers to the U.A.E also have the opportunity to meet established entrepreneurs and profit from their knowledge and experience.
