ABOUT NETHERLANDS BUSINESS COUNCIL

Established in 1997 by the Netherlands Consulate and a group of prominent Dutch businessmen, the Netherlands Business Council, commonly known as NBC, aims to provide a platform for its members to network, encourage and promote business links with other like-minded business men, business councils in the GCC region and the Netherlands. The NBC undertakes a wide range of activities with the objective to enhance business prospects and expose the Dutch business community.

The NBC is a non-profit local association under UAE law and licensed under the umbrella of the Dubai Chamber. It is recognised by the UAE authorities as the representative body of Dutch companies and individuals operating in Dubai and the Northern Emirates. The NBC operates independently and is financially self-sufficient. The NBC has experienced significant growth over the last decade. From a handful pioneering entrepreneurs and career expatriates, the NBC has grown to roughly 200 entrepreneurs, managers and executives in a large variety of industries. Many of whom regularly call on any of our 30 plus annual events.

DUBAI CHAMBER

As the voice of the business community, Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry works to represent, support and protect the interests of the business community in Dubai. Our efforts focus on providing policy advocacy, business intelligence and networking opportunities to ensure Dubai’s businesses are given the best support to thrive.

The Netherlands remains an important trading partner to Dubai, and relations between the two sides have only strengthened in recent years. Bilateral non-oil trade amounted to $2.7 billion in 2016, and the scope of trade has also expanded considerably.

Dutch businesses play an important role in Dubai’s business community and we hope to see more cooperation and knowledge-sharing through our efforts. Logistics, tourism, healthcare and renewable energy are just some of the key sectors that stand to offer the most potential as our countries look to boost trade and investment flows.

The number of Dutch companies registered with the Chamber has grown steadily to exceed 300. This growth would not have been possible without the support of the Netherlands Business Council, which has done an outstanding job representing the Dutch business community in Dubai.

Dubai Chamber has been working closely with the Netherlands Business Council to promote and strengthen our cooperation through various initiatives. We have led several trade missions to the Netherlands in recent years to explore prospects in the European country that offer the most potential for our members and businesses in the emirate.

An infrastructure boom in Dubai triggered by Expo 2020 is creating new business and investment opportunities that Dutch companies stand to benefit from. The mega event will also offer Dutch firms an ideal platform to reach a diverse group of visitors and boost their global profile.

We are working to build on this relationship by enhancing economic cooperation, and establishing long-lasting partnerships with key stakeholders. Last year, Dubai Chamber signed a memorandum of understanding with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce to support this aim and build bridges between our business communities.
